How to configure an Airtel Beetel 220BX modem to auto login

If you are a subscriber to Airtel Broadband and own a Beetel 220BX modem and hate using the dialer; fret not; I will show you a way by which you can setup your modem to automatically log you in each time you turn it on.

1. Open http://192.168.1.1

2. Username : admin

Password : password

3. Click on WAN from the options on the left

4. Type of connection should be PPP over Ethernet i.e PPPoE

5. Enter the username / pass provided by Airtel on next page.

6. Click Save / Reboot

From now on, each time you turn the modem on, you’re automatically connected to the internet!

  5. Hey good job, but let me tell you all, this will not help incase you are using any P2P clients and the performance will be very slow ‘coz these require IP Forwarding to be enabled, but in this case your connection is made from modem, not your PC , so this configuration fails.

Suggested to use Ethernet over PPPoE bridged , this is the best way out.

    Thanks,
    Ash

  10. When i click on WAN in the 3rd step listed above, the modem reports “page not found” error. I tried going to the advanced settings of the modem by doing http://192.168.1.1/main.html and also telnetting to the modem, but none of them helped. Did any body get this behavior earlier.

    thanks in adv.

Why don’t you try and connect the lan cable to a switch. This way you can have multiple connections. Or connect it to a Wifi router so you will get wireless access on your brothers laptop.

    • You seem to be facing some other kind of problem. Try using your modem with another BSNL connection to rule out any hardware issue.

  27. Hey people,I have Airtel broadband connection with 110BX1 modem.I use Mozilla Firefox browser. When I attempted to connect,I was automatically redirected to the webpage http://www.activatemydsl@airtelbroadband.in.It suggested me to download and install Java SE binary and I did it.I ran that program. After that, everytime I tried to open any website it was automatically getting connected to server and desired webpages were not displayed. At the same time Internet Explorer is working fine.I again uninstalled Mozilla and reinstalled it.But still I am getting Page loading error or Network timed out or Unable to connect. What could be done?
