Get rid of GPG-Key not found error in Apt

Apt is a great package updating tool. It frees the user from the burden of finding package dependencies for software they install. But a problem faced by many users is the GPG-Key not found error. Not all packages are digitally signed and Apt refuses to install such packages and thrown an error in your face. However, if you are sure that the package is reliable and would like to install it anyways, type the following in your terminal –

cd /etc/apt

vi apt.conf

Consider the following lines –
// Uncomment to disable GPG-signature checking for packages
// GPG-Check “false”;

Now uncomment the GPG-Check “false”; so that the GPG-Key checking is disabled. The lines should now look like –

// Uncomment to disable GPG-signature checking for packages
GPG-Check “false”;

Save apt.conf. Apt will no longer throw the annoying error message in your face 🙂
