Installing Nvidia drivers on Debian in 3 steps!

You will find hundreds of articles on the net about installing Nvidia drivers on your Debian box. Here’s a 3 step method that worked for me –

spooky:~> apt-get install module-assistant
spooky:~> m-a prepare
spooky:~> m-a auto-install nvidia

and that’s it? only 3? Even with X running?

Alejandro is right. I conveniently forgot to mention that you should switch to run level 3 and then execute the above steps. To do that –

    >>CTRL+ALT+F1
    >>Login as root
    >>init 3

After this execute the above commands. Nvidia drivers install properly only without xserver running. Thanks Alejandro!
